Compared to the bias-ply tires of 25 years ago, today’s radial tires are significantly safer. Regardless of this, though, they still require regular attention. The most common cause of tire failure is under-inflation, and it was one of the main culprits in Firestone fatalities related to tire malfunction. Even the smallest problem with your tires can cause a serious mishap, so you should take care of them the same way you do of your vehicle.

There are many factors that can lead to tire problems. You should be very aware of this, to both extend your tire life and protect your safety while driving. Among the factors to keep an eye on, you will find:

  • Over-inflation or under-inflation
  • Uneven or worn-out tires
  • Tire balancing
  • Tire alignment

Remember, the only things that keeps you connected to the roadway is your tires.  If you don't personally check your tires, have your mechanic check them every 5,000 miles. If you have been involved in an accident due to tire failure, an experienced attorney can help you with your case and remind you of your rights so you receive the compensation you are entitled to.
