Driving Under The Influence

Driving under the influence is defined as operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, or distraction, of a given substance, situation, or object. Most often, driving under the influence results in criminal charges if drivers are found under the influence of alcohol, but in all cases, the term under the influence covers a wide spectrum of both legal and illegal drugs, including illicit street drugs, prescriptions medications, and even over the counter medications. If any substance or situation, such as driving under extreme fatigue, is causing a driver to jeopardize themselves or others on the roadways, a driving under the influence charge may be assessed.
