Man Arrested in New Britian on DUI Charges
Ethan Churchill was arrested on Friday, August 10, 2007 after weeks of speculation as to whether or not he fled the scene of a crash that killed his passenger on June 10, 2007.
The 21 year old man was accused of causing the fatal car accident that took place on the Berlin Turnpike, and he was arrainged on Monday, August 13, 2007 on charges including second degree manslaughter and driving under the influence.
Churchill was found at the home address he gave to the authorities, and he was in the possession of marijuana and drug paraphernailia. He was also charged with drug possession.
Churchill was driving a red Ford Escort when it collided with a Dodge Durango around 3:00am. Witnesses say that the Escort was driving about 70-80 mph and ran through a red light, which caused the crash. Both vehicles were propelled into the air, and when the Escort landed, it smashed into a guardrail.
When the police tested Churchill's blood alcohol content, it read .10%. The legal limit in Connecticut is .08%.
In addition to the charges already listed, Churchill has also been charged with failing to obey a control signal and driving without a license. He must appear in court on August 24, 2007.
