Motor Vehicle Crash Killed Unborn Child

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad Detectives investigated a two-car motor vehicle crash which claimed the life of an unborn child.
Jessica Albert, age 23, of Shirley, was traveling north on Patchogue-Holbrook Road in Holbrook in a 1989 grey Dodge when she was broadsided at the intersection of Furrows Road by a 1999 red Pontiac that was being operated by Beverly Hoffman, age 50, of Mastic.
Ms. Albert, who was 37 weeks pregnant, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where she lost her baby as a result of the impact of the crash. Two other children in Ms. Albert’s car, a three-year-old and a five-year-old, as well as Ms. Hoffman, were taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
