I am a native to the Las Vegas area. My Grandfathers were friends and furniture salesmen in the late fiftyâs and early sixtyâs. This is how my mother and father got together. They were high school sweethearts at Las Vegas High School. My dad worked as a police officer with the city of Henderson for his whole career and still lives in the city. My mom worked for the post office and finished her career in Boulder City as assistant post master. For almost my entire life,Henderson has been my home. I attended Gordon McCaw, Burkholder and Basic. I was involved with a few different activities growing up, boy scouts, violin, dancing, drama and swimming. I ended up focusing on swimming in high school and was the state champion in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1982. That was good for a zone record for six years and a school record for 32 years. I continued to swim at UNLV for one year and then completed my degree in Hotel Administration in 1988.I worked at the Tropicana Hotel for five years before going to law school in San Diego. The reason for the delay from undergrad to graduate school was my declining eyesight. When I started at UNLV, I began to lose my eyesight. When I turned 25, I was legally blind and needed corneal transplantstopossibly restore my vision. In July of 1990, I had my first surgery. Over the course of the next two years I had 2 more corneal transplants and 1 adjustment. By the fall of 1992 I was ready for my next step, law school. So with my eyesight restored, no debt, wife or kids, I headed out for the University of San Diego Law School.I graduate in the Spring of 1995, returned home and passed the bar in the fall. I am currently handling injury cases, traffic tickets and serve as an alternate Judge for the city of Henderson. My ultimate dream is to become a full time municipal court judge in the city of Henderson.
